The company is the largest distributor of handsets and accessories for brands such as Samsung, Huawei, and Apple. 3G Mobile’s Vanya Zlateva said Lockoff invited two ex-colleagues, hence 3G, meaning three guys, was born. This was done towards realising his vision of becoming one of the leading distributors of handsets and mobile devices.3G Mobile Botswana commenced operations in 2010 and serves as the local branch of the company, whose head office is in Johannesburg and has presence across the region. The 3G Mobile Group has operations in Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland and has recently opened in Mauritius.
The regional offices are part of the 3G Mobile Group and the setup of these warehouses and operations is funded internally. Botswana’s country manager, Brian White has over 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry, working with various networks across Africa. Zlateva revealed that he (White) has been involved in network setup, site infrastructure, and project management for projects from Eastern to Central Africa as well as Southern Africa. “There is still a significant amount of grey product on the market, although we commend the hard work and effort invested by the likes of BOCRA and the implementation of the Type Approvals required. There are still obviously loopholes that allow for the distribution of such and the expected negative consumer experiences with various brands that may result,” noted Zlateva. The company has recently been involved in the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S7, their newest offering to the Smart phone range. 3G Mobile offers a turnkey solution to its client base in catering for both the supply of cellular handsets as well as after sales support for the devices including but not limited to troubleshooting and repairs. Recently, there is a high demand for these products and technology in general and the market space for these types of consumer goods is robust and full of exponential potential. 3G Mobile sells to a wide range of retailers including Game, Furnmart, Ok Furnishers, and others.
