Traditional poet hopes to have book printed

Popular Bangwaketse traditional poet Motswakgakala Sealetsa still harbours dreams of one day seeing his work published in educational books.

Sealetsa prays he will clinch a publishing deal before age catches up with him. The elderly tribesman from Goo Motebejana ward in Kanye, told Showbiz that it would be painful not to follow his passion and that he wanted to share it with as many people as possible.

Although he might not be as highly regarded as "his role model" Sekokotla Kaboeamodimo, Sealetsa remains one of the few who have mastered the art of traditional poetry, which is rich in language. "I have drafted some poems and I am encouraged by the fact that former president Sir Ketumile Masire has recommend that I take them forward.  I believe in four months' time I should have something concrete though I have not talked to any of the publishers yet," Sealetsa said.
