Local song a hit in SA

South Africa's Motsweding fm listeners have given the nod to Rejoyce 'Jojo' Gaonakala's hit song Mpatiseng, voting it Song of the Week.

The popular station with a listenership of about 10 million has had Jojo's song on high rotation this week after it topped the charts.  Jojo's fame in the neighbouring country is steadily on the rise. She was scheduled for an exclusive interview at Mafikeng fm on Tuesday night. The talented star said both developments were heartening as she aims to broaden her fan base: "This is obviously reassuring for me, it means I'm growing in my music and I will keep working hard to make sure I maintain this," she told Showbiz. She added: "I've been invited for an exclusive interview with Mafikeng fm tonight. It's quite a positive thing because that gives me exposure in South Africa."  In recent months, she has been promoting her debut album and indications are that it is paying dividends:

"We have been promoting the album  and it is doing very well. We sold a good 2,000 copies in two days which is really encouraging," she said. Local promoter Gilbert Seagile, whose company is managing the rookie muso, said the 22-year-old musician has been hard at work promoting her album locally.  "I think what is happening in Jojo's career is as a result of the hard work she has put into her music," Seagile said.  The former dancer already has a firm fan base in Lesotho where she performed at a two-day Cultural Exchange Festival during the Easter holidays in April.  Again, Mpatiseng is reportedly getting a fair amount of airplay on the country's radio stations. The first time she performed in the small mountainous nation was when she entertained dignitaries at an event hosted by Makhoaroana Member of Parliament (MP) Daniel Mooketsi Sello last December.
