Kgokgonono now Monna Wa Lekgotla

Though as a solo act, traditional musician Kgokgonono (Rose Bautu) is still to prove his mettle, he has done some interesting duets with several local musicians, including established acts like Ditiro Leero and Kganka and continues to impress in more collaborations.

This time the Kanye-born maestro has joined his homeboys Malebogo Simamma, Tumelo Keakitse to produce a Dikhwaere album. Their band is called Banna Ba Lekgotla. With his authoritative bass, which easily changes into an inviting tenor, the muscular musician's voice is clearly dominant in almost all the tracks.

"But this is not about me; it is about the four of us.  I might have started way before them but they are bringing something different into the music," Kgokgonono said, probably avoiding absorbing all the credit.Although he plays a lead role in the composition, the other two complement him well, a symbol of the trio's understanding of one another.
