Botswana marks National Heritage

This year's President's Day holidays were marked by festivities as artists and craftspeople from different persuasions converged on Gaborone to compete for top honours.

The festivities were held under the theme: Towards Artistic Excellence by 2016. These festivities came after President Ian Khama directed that two programmes of performing and visual arts be held to celebrate national heritage and for the arts to be honoured for their contribution to cultural development.

Youth, Sport and Culture Minister Gladys Kokorwe set the ball rolling on Friday night when she opened the popular National Basket and Craft Exhibition at the Octagon, the National Museum and Art Gallery.
