Showa survives as BFL backs board rotation :: Mmegi Online

Botswana Football League (BFL) chairperson, Sipho Showa, has survived another turbulent period at the helm of the league, with shareholders instead agreeing to rotate four of their representatives on the board from the 2026-2027 season.

The resolution was reached at the BFL annual general meeting (AGM) held at the Lekidi Football Centre on Saturday, a week after the gathering failed to proceed due to a lack of quorum. Showa has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with sections of the league's shareholders calling for changes to the leadership of the board. There had also been reports of moves to remove him from his position.

However, the Saturday's AGM did not remove Showa, with the shareholders instead resolving to implement a rotation system involving four shareholder representatives on the board.
