The Botswana Football Association (BFA) and Botswana Football League (BFL) face critical decisions over their chief executive officer positions, which have remained without substantive officials for a prolonged period. Mfolo Mfolo left the BFA in February and, eight months later, the position has seen two acting appointments.

Kago Mosinyi, the chief operations officer, was thrust into the acting role until a ‘reshuffle’ in August, which saw BFA board member Bathusi Rathari appointed on an interim basis. This week, BFA president Tariq Babitseng said the position will soon be advertised, with the intention of having a substantive appointment in place by December.

The BFL is also taking its time to appoint Billy Sekgororoane’s successor. Sekgororoane lasted only four months in the role after being appointed in August 2025 to succeed Bennett Mamelodi. By December, the BFL was left without a chief executive officer following Sekgororoane’s abrupt departure.
