Maun part of AFCON bid

Maun will be one of the venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals if Botswana and Namibia’s joint bid is successful.

The resort town will join Gaborone, Lobatse, and Francistown as the preferred host centres. Namibia has earmarked two venues in Windhoek and Swakopmund.

In Maun, a new 15,000-seater stadium is likely to be constructed to meet CAF hosting requirements. Botswana and Namibia Bid Committee held a media briefing in Gaborone yesterday to update on progress.
