Botswana football is mourning the death of veteran coach, Clever Hunda who was found dead at his home this week.
Hunda, who was 74, coached numerous clubs in Botswana that include Uniao Flamengo Santos, Prisons XI, Notwane, Extension Gunners, Gilport Lions and BDF XI. He relocated to Botswana from Zimbabwe in 1986 and made a significant contribution to the local game, where he was known for his strict discipline. The Botswana Football League (BFL) led tributes to the late Zimbabwean born coach. "Botswana Football League (BFL) is shocked and saddened by the passing of Clever Hunda. In this moment of profound loss, the BFL extends deepest sympathies to Hunda's family and the entire football community," BFL said in a statement. FNB Premiership champions, Gaborone United also shared their message of condolences. "Gaborone United would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hunda's family following the passing of former Police XI head coach, Clever Hunda. Madala was a gentleman on and off the field, a true disciplinarian who has contributed immensely to the development of football in Botswana," the club stated.
