The tournament is part of JMS's Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) initiative to raise funds for school activities and had been held annually for over 15 years. In an interview with Mmegi Sport, tournament organiser, JMS Principal Moosa Lambat, said that with the proceeds they have been able to lighten the burden of the school board as they have helped them refurbish the school sports grounds.

"We have been able to also add beauty to the school premises and the classrooms as well as adding extra furniture in some classrooms. Again the funds have enabled us to cater for the visiting schools," he said.He added that the Seven-Aside tournament has become one of the biggest fund-raising activities in the school."The participating company teams have an amount of money they are paying as a registration fee. With such fees we are able to continuously take the games to a higher level," he said. Lambat said that each year the event was getting bigger and better.
