PALAPYE: The beMOBILE Premiership side, Miscellaneous has secured a P250, 000 sponsorship from Botswana Life in partnership with Marvin Sports.
An elated Miscellaneous vice chairman, Moses Bantsi said the sponsorship takes effect beginning of the 2015/2016 season and will run for a year with an option to renew it.
Miscellaneous has been without a sponsor for some time and this has been attributed to their poor run in the Premier League, two seasons ago.
They were relegated to the First Division, but bounced back to the top flight last season. Bantsi said Botswana Life will provide technical sponsorship.
“Botswana Life will provide the team with a complete range of apparels including training kit, warm up kit, tracksuits, boots, replica t-shirts and all the necessary equipment.
But Botswana Life is not alone in the deal; they agreed to work together with Marvin Sports, who will design the kits,” Bantsi said. Bantsi was naturally elated after the team secured its first sponsorship deal. He believed the development might attract more sponsors to the team, as Botswana Life is a reputable company.
“We are in the Premiership to stay. Through this sponsorship, we will be boosted so that our players can perform well while properly attired. “Many teams are suffering when it comes to kits, so we are blessed to have Botswana Life and we are going to represent them well,” he said.
Botswana Life head of individual life, Moletlanyi Tshosa hopes the sponsorship would help the team as well as football in general to grow.
He said that they believed that assisting community clubs like Miscellaneous is a way of ploughing back into their customer-base, the community.
“We believe in helping such organisations that are at micro level and people should know that this is not the first time Botswana Life helped organisations.
“We assist Batswana in different ways, not only in sporting activities. We do a lot for Batswana and this includes helping the underprivileged and many other people,” Tshosa said.
Tshosa further said they encourage good health among the youth, which is why they sponsored a sporting code that involves youth. “We shall be working with the team for 2015/2016 season. On July 16, we availed our new brand so we believe this sponsorship shall benefit both of us as they are also new in the league. “Even though this is the first time we work with them, we are proud to be sponsoring them. We wish they can be champions as we are champions in the insurance industry,” Tshosa said.
He said even if Miscellaneous failed to win the beMOBILE Premiership title, they should maintain their stay in the league. He did not rule out extension of the deal.
