MP increases soccer sponsorship

MATSHELAGABEDI: The MP for Tati East, Samson Guma Moyo has increased this year's sponsorship for Matshelagabedi Christmas soccer tournament from P5,000 to P7,500. The tournament was first held last year.

The increased sponsorship comes shortly after Moyo collaborated with Vice President Ian Khama to finance the Tati East Independence Challenge Cup three months ago. There has been uncertainty in Matshelagabedi - a village east of Francistown - whether the MP would sponsor the Christmas tournament again. "I have promised that this would be an annual event for as long as I am the MP for the area," he said to dispel doubts about the tournament.

He said that basically, he is not sponsoring activities in Matshelagabedi only, but other villages in his constituency benefit from his generosity. He sponsors tournaments in Sevia, Jakalas Two, Themashanga, Tsamaya and Mabudzane. "I do not use my money. I organise some sponsorships for such tournaments and guess what, the sponsoring companies or individuals do come to watch how their money is being utilised," said the MP who has passion for football.
