Moroko shines in Czech Republic

Botswana's upcoming sensational 400 metres sprinter Galefele Moroko made the country proud when she was crowned the most valuable female performer at the just ended School Sport World Athletics Championships in the Czech Republic.

Athletes from 23 countries competed in the event. The 16-year-old shining performance did not come as a surprise considering his good performance in the recent past.Moroko ran an impressive time of 54.44secs, an improvement on the previous time of 55.15secs in the Confederation of School Sports Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) Games in Zimbabwe last month.The 16-year-old sterling performance did not come as a surprise as she set a new record in the COSSASA games. The 16-year-old Moroko recently set a new record in COSSASA games held in Zimbabwe where she recorded 55:15secs. She has also qualified for World Youth Games. Vincent Basima, who made the qualifying standards for the World Youth Championships in 100m with 10.91 seconds and 200m respectively with 25.44 seconds, also performed well.  The team is expected home today, while a welcome reception is planned for tomorrow.
