Mini-World Cup Cricket Challenge starts

The 2010 edition of the mini-World Cup Cricket Challenge starts at the Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) Oval in Gaborone tomorrow. Six local teams, Botswana, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka compete in the 30-over a side annual event.

The tournament selection committee headed by the chairman of the Gaborone CC Ravi Srinivasan announced the 16-member squads last Sunday. Teams are well balanced and promise to provide entertaining cricket for the next five weeks.

Botswana, the defending champions and the winners of most of the last 10 mini-World Cups, face this year's favourites, India, in the opening encounter tomorrow. The match is expected to be fought up to the last ball as the two teams play strength with strength.
