Intervarsity games get underway

The Intervarsity games hosted by the University of Botswana (UB) got underway after Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Moeng Pheto flagged them off yesterday.

He also said that with the theme for this year's games being "Development through sports and cultural activities," it is upon the students to relate and share their cultures and experiences through the games.

He urged the participants to exhibit good sportsmanship and accept defeat because "there can only be one winner".
Speaking for the UB leadership, Lydia Ramahobo concurred with the minister saying that over the years, the games have promoted cultural exchanges and friendship. She also revealed that this year, swimming and aerobics have come on board.
