Gunners confront Comets in relegation battle

Extension Gunners hope to ease their relegation worries when they take on Jwaneng Comets in a must-win Mascom Premier League game at the UB Stadium tonight.

The last time Gunners played at the university stadium, they humiliated TASC 6-0 about three weeks ago. The problem with Gunners is that they tend to disappoint when least expected. After the high-scoring win over TASC, Mapantsula faltered 2-1 to Uniao Flamengo Santos at the National Stadium on April 18. Gunners' tactician Daniel 'Chicco' Nare is under pressure to save the club from relegation as other bottom clubs pick up points. "These are difficult times for us and our plan is to pick points against Comets. All I want my players to understand is that this is a dangerous game for us because Comets have nothing to lose," said Nare.

He told his players that they want to remain in the Premier League, they have to show character in the remaining games. "We have everything in place at Gunners but the main problem has been converting the chances we create. But I have confidence in my players. They can remain in the Premier League," he said. Nare's frustrations are understandable as his charges wasted good chances against Santos with Othusitse 'Sphetho' Mahube and Nkosinathi Khumalo being the main culprits. He is happy that he has a full squad for tonight's game.
