GU-BDF XI in exciting deadlock
Monday, April 13, 2015
GU started the match on a high note, pinning BDF XI in their own half for long periods. Mpho Kgaswane tormented BDF XI defence from the left wing, giving James Moloi a tough time. GU striker, Tebogo Sembowa also overworked the BDF XI rearguard and had numerous goal attempts. The Reds went ahead when Matthews Nyamadzawo scored from a classic counter-attack initiated by Kgaswane, assisted by Ntesang Simanyana. BDF XI tried to get back into the game and won four corners in a row, but failed to beat Goitseone Phoko in the GU goal.
In the 21st minute, Edwin Olerile dribbled past Moloi and Keleagetse Mogomotsi to make it 2-0 for the Reds. BDF XI did not lose hope and hit back in the 34th minute when Othusitse Mpharithe scoring a marvelous in-swinger from a free-kick. Matebele continued to rattle GU in search for the equaliser, but had to wait until the 51st minute to pull level when Master Masitara scored with a brilliant header. Sembowa failed to punish BDF XI when he got an easy chance, but looped the ball over the bar.
