Glitches as Netball League start in Sowa

SOWA: Non-attendance by some netball clubs at the launch of the 2012 Botswana Netball Association (BONA) northern zone netball league over the weekend marred what could have otherwise been a mouthwatering start to the My Spar Good For You Netball League in Sowa Town, where a number of clubs were billed to gather here for a round of matches.

However,  only two games were played after TASC, BOASA and Serowe Arsenal failed to turn up for the league launch at the Botswana Ash (Botash) Mine courts during the  launch of the third and last edition of the BONA Spar Good For You Netball League sponsored to a tune of P400,000 per season for three years.

Some of the thrillers expected included Flamingo Netball Club and TASC Netball Club, Morupule Wanderers vs TASC and BOASA. Miscellaneous Netball Club beat Flamingo 46-43 in a closely contested match before the Sowa girls discovered their winning ways in the second game against Botswana Railways (Botsrail) to emerge 49-30 winners. BONA zonal leadership had taken a deliberate decision to take the games to Sowa in its endeavor to spread the game of netball to all corners of the country and give their sponsor, Spar, the much-needed mileage.
