Duiker to lead Gunners on permanent basis

LOBATSE: Peleng giants, Extension Gunners, have named Itumeleng Duiker as head coach for next season. His appointment follows the clubs annual general meeting (AGM) held on Saturday.

Duiker led Gunners to a top five finish last season although he held the fort on a caretaker basis following the departure of Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare in the middle of the season. Gunners’ spokesperson, Edwin Mabapa said although the contract has not been signed yet, an agreement has been reached for Duiker to lead the team next season.

“The contract was supposed to be signed on May 2016. The signing however did not materialise because he has also been held by the national Under-23 commitments,” Mabapa said. Duiker’s clean record towards the end of the season left an impressive mark on the team’s leadership. Since he headed the club in March, he did not register any defeat in more than eight games.
