Bowls association to walk for cash

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) will embark on a funds-raising initiative termed 'Bowls Big Walk' this weekend.

BBA spokesperson John Gaborutwe explained to Mmegi Sport that the initiative is meant not to only raise funds for the national team, but also to enable bowlers to celebrate their achievements.  He said that proceeds from the Francistown event tomorrow would go towards sponsoring the national team which will take part in the September 8-14 African States tournament to be held in Windhoek, Namibia, and World Champion of Champions in Christchurch, New Zealand, next November.

The women's squad comprises Tirelo Buckley (Jwaneng Club), Mpopi Pelemo (Jwaneng Club), Obopile Mosimanyana (Francistown Club), Lillian Tebele (Francistown Club), Bonnie Fox (Gaborone Club), Pauline Lekone (Gaborone Club), Nelly Senna and Tshegofatso Siamang of Phikwe Club respectively.The men's team is: Kitso Robert (Orapa), Ofentse Moleleki (Orapa), Gaborutwe (Phikwe) Diane Senna (Phikwe), Remmy Kebapetse (Jwaneng), Marks Mantsima (Jwaneng), Timothy Morton (Gaborone) and Kabo Gaboutloeloe. Gaborutwe said BBA would have a public and media bowls day at the same venue.  He explained that during the event, members of the public and
the media will play demonstration games with seasoned bowlers to have
first hand experience of the bowls game.
