Botswana behind in signing Helsenki Declaration

Only four sport bodies in Botswana have signed the Brighton Plus Helsinki 2014 Declaration on women and sport, which seeks to address challenges women in sport face and accelerate change.

Since International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) set up office in Botswana two years ago, only the Botswana Netball Association (BONA), the Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) and lately the Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) have signed.

IWG marketing and public relations manager, Boitumelo Kenosi told Mmegi Sport this week that other mother bodies are taking long to sign the declaration and there is need to educate them before they commit.
