Botswana Football Association (BFA) has reportedly contacted COSAFA over hosting this year’s regional tournament after Zimbabwe withdrew last month.

COSAFA chief operations officer, Sue Destombes confirmed to Mmegi Sport this week that BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti had enquired about the possibility of the tournament coming to Botswana.

“They have made enquiries about hosting COSAFA championship, but they did not come back to us again. I am yet to follow up on them,” she said. The championship remains without a host since Zimbabwe’s withdrawal. The regional tournament is normally held between June and July, but this year those dates have been reserved for AFCON competition. COSAFA was initially set for May 19 to June 1.
