Attention: Media and MISA members

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) is broadening its programming focus to include issues affecting Freedom of Expression in Cyberspace.

This is in response to the trends we have observed over time through our monitoring work, that freedom of expression in cyberspace violations are on the rise across southern Africa.Through this survey, therefore, we hope to gain knowledge and insight that can help MISA to solidly frame the issue of freedom of expression in cyberspace and enable us to design innovative and dynamic interventions that can assist in advancing online freedom. We are well aware that successfully negotiating a hugely contested terrain that is cyberspace is not an easy task. Hence, at this early stage we are looking more at issues of online privacy, data protection, digital security, communications surveillance and existing legal frameworks.

The survey takes between 10-15 minutes to complete and we would very much appreciate you taking the time to assist us in framing this extremely important topic. To access the survey, please follow this link:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/misasurveyThe survey closes on Tuesday, 18 June 2013. MISA will publish analysis of the survey results. We have taken much care not to ask a lot of personal and identifying questions. Such information, where it has been requested, will be kept strictly confidential. Please feel free to alert other people whom you think will be interested in participating in this survey. Many thanks for your time and best regards,
