BOPEU conference - an eye opener for the labour movement

The 2014 BOPEU Conference achieved one of the most progressive undertakings for a trade union to be relevant to its members, workers and society in general. For a trade union to be revolutionary within the worker’s agenda, its leadership must rise above petty bourgeoisie, neo liberal and anti working class agenda.

Selfish and narrow personal interests of leadership must give way to broader worker interest with objectives to improve worker welfare, ensure decent work, and inculcate quality service principles  through workers unity.

BOPEU leadership rose above the pre-2014 elections selfish and working class destructive agenda as perpetuated by leaders from three BOFEPUSU unions contrary to the  Federation and their unions’ (BOSETU; BLLAHWU & NAC&LGWU) resolution on the issue. BCP wishes to congratulate BOPEU for upholding and respecting worker democracy in denouncing and distancing themselves from this destructive agenda. Partisan politics within trade unions are destroying COSATU, with NUMSA being expelled for being pro-workers and AMCU gaining support over MWU for being pro -orkers. Congratulations, BOPEU for being visionary.
