A 35-year-old woman of Mosojane village has passed away and four of her passengers injured, after a single vehicle accident by Mmamabula lands along the A1 highway.

Police received the report of the accident around 0430hrs when the deceased and her passengers were driving from south to north on the A1 highway.

Dibete police station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku, told The Monitor that the deceased lost control of the Toyota Runx she was driving and it overturned.

"The deceased died on the spot. “One of her passengers, a 38-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and she is currently hospitalised at Mahalapye Hospital. “The other three passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and released the same day," Ranku said.


Meanwhile, the station commander said police are investigating another serious accident that occurred by Mogononyane lands about 10 kilometres away from the Dibete Barrier gate on December 23rd. He said the single vehicle accident occurred around 06:55hrs.

"The 43-year-old man of G/West in Gaborone who was driving from south to north, lost control of the Toyota Urban vehicle he was driving and it overturned leaving three seriously injured. “The driver and his two passengers, a 41-year-old woman and her three-year-old baby girl, are currently hospitalized at Mahalapye Hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition," he said.

Ranku pleaded with motorists to exercise caution when driving especially during the festive period.
