Following alcohol-related disputes after the closure of local bars, police in Dibete are investigating two separate murder cases that occurred in Mookane village over the weekend.

Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Keoagile Tau, said the first incident was reported in the early hours of Friday. He explained that on the fateful night, the deceased, a 37-year-old man of Mochudi, and the suspect, a 36-year-old man of Mookane, had been drinking at a local bar before a misunderstanding between them erupted into a fight. “The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased with a sharp object. The victim was rushed to Mookane Clinic, where doctors certified him dead on arrival. That same night, we managed to arrest the suspect, who is currently in custody as investigations continue to establish what triggered the fight,” said Tau.

In the second incident recorded in the early hours of Saturday, another fatal fight broke out at a different bar, following business closing for the night. Tau said, just like in the first incident, the deceased and the suspect had been drinking alcohol at the same bar before a quarrel turned violent.
