ORAPA: The Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mine (OLDM) General Manager, Mogakolodi Maoketsa, has said that 27% of the population in Letlhakane is affected by acute water shortages. Maoketsa revealed this during the 20th OLDM GM's Charity Walk, held over the weekend at Itekeng Stadium.

In his address, Maoketsa said that this year's proceeds will go towards addressing water challenges experienced in their region, particularly Letlhakane, which is faced with a significant shortage of water, hence the theme 'A Walk for Water'.

He stated that the water shortfall, exacerbated by the rapid increase in population, compelled them to commit to supplying the village with 500m³ of water per day in 2023.
