Two men, aged 37 and 40, have been seriously injured after their Honda Fit vehicle was hit by a Mercedes Benz on Saturday early morning in Gabane.

The duo sustained serious head injuries and fractured legs respectively and are currently fighting for their lives at Princess Marina Hospital. Investigating the matter, Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Boemo Bok said the accident occurred at around 2am near one of the local bars.

“It looks like the Mercedes Benz driver lost control of his car when trying to overtake and ended up hitting a Honda Fit vehicle that had two people on board and it (Honda Fit) ended up hitting a Toyota Mark X that was driving behind it. Both drivers of Mercedes Benz and Toyota Mark X escaped the accident with minor injuries and they were treated and released the same morning,” he said.

Bok further stated that accident that occurs early in the morning on weekends remains a concern as most of end usually end as a fatal accident. He said in most of these incidents drivers would be driving under the influence of alcohol and heading home after retiring from a drinking spree.
