TK denies establishment of Tourism Intelligence unit

The Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Tshekedi Khama has refuted claims that his ministry has established a unit called the Tourism Intelligence Services to combat poaching in the country.

There have been allegations, particularly media reports in the recent past, that Khama has established an anti-poaching unit under the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP).

It has been claimed that the unit was recruiting from the Botswana Defence Force and the Directorate of Intelligent and Security Service (DIS), stoking a rivalry between the government units, charged with the protection of national security, which include environmental.
