Teenager dies after being hit by a car

Dibete police are investigating a case in which a 15-year-old boy succumbed to injuries sustained after he was hit by a speeding car at Dibete village along the A1 road Sunday evening.

The deceased was from Matsosa ward in Dibete. The teenager was trying to cross the road when he was fatally hit by a car. In an interview with MmegiOnline, Dibete Police Station Commander, Superintendent, Meshack Ranku, said the accident occured around 18:30hrs.

"The boy was hit by a 44-year-old man of Broadhurst Extension 25, Gaborone who was driving a Toyota Fortuner. He was rushed to Dibete clinic where he was later referred to Mahalapye hospital where he was certified dead by doctors on arrival, " he said.


Ranku said the driver is still under police custody for investigations and he is likely to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
