Salary hike to widen income gap

If the government implements its intended four percent salary increment for civil servants, the gap between the top dogs and the low-income earners will widen. For instance, the top earners in the public service, the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) and the Chief Justice (CJ) who are currently on P49,236 will get P51,205.44.

The PSP and CJ enjoying a taxable entertainment allowance of P13,236 and with the proposed increment, this will go up by P529.44.

Permanent Secretaries who are earning an entertainment allowance of about P11,508 will have an additional P460.32.
