Ntuane rumoured to have quit BDP

Member of Parliament for Gaborone West South, Botsalo Ntuane, has quit the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) following his suspension from the party three weeks ago, according to unconfirmed reports.

A source has revealed that Ntuane has made up his mind about his political future and that he is not returning to the party that he once served as executive secretary. Contacted for comment, Ntuane said that nothing has changed from the Barata-Phathi stance adopted at a controversial Mogoditshane meeting. He said they are watching out for any progress that might come out of reconciliation initiatives by former president, Ketumile Masire.

He said that he has not been served with a letter of expulsion from the party. Ntuane and four other BDP Members of Parliament including other party members resolved in a meeting a few weeks ago to form a splinter party whose constitution is said to be at an advanced stage.
