In the midst of the toxic relationship between the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) and its parent organisation, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), the BCP has been cooperating with the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to topple UDC councillors from the positions of council chairmanship and deputy chairmanship. FRANCISTOWN: The quid pro quo arrangement between the BCP and the BDP led to the tabling of a motion of no confidence against the chairperson of the North West District Council (NWDC) and his deputy.

The chairperson and deputy of NWDC were BCP councillors who were deployed by the BCP to represent the UDC in the 2019 General Election.
