Dibete police have arrested a 52-year-old man of Malepe lands in the outskirts of Mahalapye West in possession of 17 rolls of suspected stolen copper cables at Dibete barrier gate on Monday.

Dibete police station commander Superintendent, Meshack Ranku said the Mahalapye native was intercepted by the police during a search in a Gaborone bound bus after he failed to account for the rolls of copper cables that were in his possession.

"The suspect has been arrested and currently in police custody for investigations. The bus was traveling to Gaborone from Francistown and investigations are ongoing to establish where he got the cables from," he said.

Meanwhile, Ranku futher revealed to be investigating another incident in which three men were found in possession of a suspected stolen cattle carcass with some parts missing at Brink’s farm at Palla range over the weekend.

He said the trio, a 25-year-old man of Ditimamodimo ward, a 20-year-old of Basimane ward and a 35-year-old man of Maaloso-a-ngwana in Mmaphashalala respectively are currently in custody whilst investigations into the matter are ongoing.
