No breakthrough in the Ramotswa murder case

Seven days after the gruesome murder of a 38 year old woman in Ramotswana, the Police are yet to make an arrest.

The Botswana Police Service (BPS) says the two foreign nationals suspects remain at large. The 38-year-old woman was found lifeless in her bedroom with both her hands and legs tied and her mouth gagged. The slain was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bamalete Lutheran Hospital. She was found in the bedroom alongside her 18-month-old unharmed child.

Murder suspects have been identified as Fanes Manyewe, Zimbabwean national and Adriano Caetano, Mozambican national. The two suspects had made away with the car of the victim which has since been recovered, police confirmed.

In an interview with Mmegi online, BPS Public Relations Officer Near Bagali revealed that while the search continues for the two suspects no breakthrough has yet been made.


“The investigations are still on going on the matter and to date no arrests have been made yet,” Bagali said.

Asked if the suspects might have jumped the border since they are foreign nationals, Bagali said they won’t know for sure.

“For now, we really cannot speculate at all,” he said.

Though no breakthrough has been reached by the police, Bagali appealed to the nation at large to be their eyes and ears of the police and help n apprehending the suspects.

“The Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist locate the suspects and the police will treat all information received with utmost confidentiality,” he said.
