Moroka charged with lesser offence

De Beers Botswana chief executive officer and former Minister of Trade and Industry, Neo Moroka is likely to be charged with recklessness and negligence after he allegedly killed a man, the police have said. The charge carries a two-year jail term, a fine or both.

Moroka allegedly shot and killed a Tsabong man on April 22, 2014 at his farm, about 22 kilometres from Makopong in Kgalagadi District. It is alleged that Moroka killed the man after he mistook him for a dog.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Balibadzi Boy said yesterday that the former minister was warned and cautioned on Monday about the charge he is likely to face. “Moroka was formally warned and cautioned for this charge yesterday (Monday).
