Police in Maun are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a 26-year-old man from Boyei ward dead.

Maun Acting Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Moutwatsi Ikobeng, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday around 1:20 am. He explained that the driver hit the victim and fled the scene without stopping to offer assistance.

"The young man was rushed to Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival. We plead with members of the community who might have witnessed the accident to come forward and assist us,” Ikobeng said.

He added that investigations are ongoing and urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads and to take responsibility in the event of accidents.
