Masisi sympathisers claim Kweneng Region

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Kweneng Region went to elections over the weekend at Dutlwe and Kgang Kgang defeated Motlhopi Leo for the position of chairperson. Leo was the incumbent chairperson while Kgang was the deputy secretary prior to the weekend tussle. Kgang is a well-known Masisi sympathiser while Leo is believed to be associated with friends of Jacob Nkate.
The former BDP secretary general, Nkate is currently the Botswana ambassador to Japan, and is expected to challenge Masisi for the presidency of the BDP in April 2017. Insiders at Kweneng Region said Kgang drew most of his support from Members of Parliament (MPs), chairpersons and secretaries of the eight branches.
Hurt as he may have been, former president Ian Khama, Sir Seretse’s senior son who was given an opportunity to speak on behalf of the Seretse family, couldn’t mince his words as he took advantage to shred his successor Mokgweetsi Masisi to pieces.He, however, did not clearly mention names but he referred to Masisi as the leader of a political party that was founded amongst others by his father.He would also address him as the former State...
