Sehithwa police are investigating a possible suicide case in which a man was found hanging from the roof of his house at Kaepe cattle post on October 16, 2023.

The man’s body was discovered by his nephew. Confirming details to Mmegi Online, Sehitlwa Police Station Commander, Nshaki Mabophiwa, said a young boy was exposed to an unpleasant sight that will leave a scar on him. “We are investigating a suicide case where a young boy found his 39-year-old uncle’s body hanging from his house,” Mabophiwa revealed. Mabophiwa further noted that the boy had visited his uncle’s place to ask for porridge as per his father’s instructions only to find his uncle’s lifeless body at around 8pm. After discovering his uncle’s body, Mabophiwa stated that the nephew then rushed back to his homestead to alert his father.

“The boy’s father shrugged it off thinking he is just being naughty. The father then went to check for himself and found his brother’s body hanging from the roof,” Mabophiwa revealed. Mabophiwa further stated that the police post at Kareng was alerted about the matter and the deceased was taken to Letsholathebe Primary Hospital where he was certified dead. “His body is still at the hospital awaiting post-mortem,” Mabophiwa said.

Meanwhile, Mabophiwa said that they are still trying to find out the motive behind the suicide because the deceased did not leave a suicide note behind. Mabophiwa pleaded with people to refrain from taking their own lives but rather seek help while there is still time.
