The quiet period that has characterised the local bodybuilding scene will soon be a thing of the past as the Gaborone Classic draws closer.

At least 30 contestants are billed to flex their muscles as the organisation of the competition scheduled for May 25, takes shape. The last bodybuilding contest was held in 2019. Show organiser, Lust Sithole told MmegiSport this week that it is almost all systems go. “Right now we are going around the gyms mobilising athletes and helping them to get ready.

They are getting excellent conditioning for the show. The venue has changed to Sunrise Conference Centre in Phase Two (Gaborone),” Sithole said. He said there has been a positive response from the community with new sponsors joining their traditional partners. Sithole said sceptical athletes are now “really interested”.
