FRANCISTOWN: Letlhakane police have arrested a 30-year-old bush mechanic in connection to a murder incident that took place in Tanana ward.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu said they recently arrested a man from the Phase 2 location after he allegedly fatally stabbed another man. According to him, at approximately 5:30am, passers-by discovered the 30-year-old lying still, stabbed a short distance from his mother's compound. Speaking about the incident, Maphephu alleged that after the bars were closed only a short distance from the drinking establishment, a fight broke out between the deceased and the suspect. He said the two were fighting because of a misunderstanding and the bush mechanic then stabbed the deceased, causing his death just near his mother's yard.

Maphephu reported that following the stabbing, the suspect fled the area but was subsequently taken into police custody the same day. He said after the man died, pedestrians discovered him and reported the incident to the police. He said that after being rushed to Letlhakane Primary Hospital, the 30-year-old male was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility. The Letlhakane police boss was concerned about the rise of murder cases on a night out, triggered by minor conflicts that could have been avoided. He pleaded with the public to refrain from violence while resolving disputes.
