Broadhurst Magistrate Court is expected to deliver judgement in a case where Mompoloki Seletao is accused of defiling a girl under the age of 18 on October 3rd 2024.

The accused allegedly defiled the young girl between July 2020 and September 2020.

During cross examination today the accused stated that the complainant (names withheld) was not upfront with her age and was the one in control of their relationship.

“I got into a relationship with the complainant in July 2020 to September 2020 where at the time she told me she was 16 years of age about to write her form 3 examinations at Sir Seretse Khama Junior Secondary School,” he said.

The accused further stated in all of these developments the complainant was the one asking him out and they eventually got into a relationship where he even allegedly broke the girl’s virginity.

The presiding Magistrate Gofaone Morweng stated that he was finding it hard to believe that a man his age was being controlled by a young girl.

“Are you saying that in the relationship you were submissive to the girl’s actions, she initiated everything, and you just followed with it?’ he asked.

The accused remained resolute and stated that the girl was the one orchestrating everything.

“The prosecutions is expected to surmise their case on why you should be found guilty and provide reasons. You will be given a copy and you will be expected in your endeavour to do the same and provide reasons why you should not be convicted,” he said.
