Khama to deliver SONA in December

The government spokesperson Jeff Ramsay has clarified the confusion caused by the special parliamentary meeting that led to the suspension of presentation of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) that was scheduled for next week.

In a statement issued yesterday, he said that President Ian Khama will deliver the State of the Nation Address in December. Ramsay said that the Speaker of the National Assembly Gladys Kokorwe has informed members of the media that this year’s SONA will follow Parliament’s consideration of National Development Plan (NDP) 11.

He said that presentation of NDP 11 willl be made at today’s special session of Parliament. “In accordance with the standing orders, this will be followed by debate on the document, which has been scheduled for a total of 24 days working days from 31 October 2016”.
