Kgatleng RAD students join university

Five students from Remote Area Dwellers in Kgatleng District have been admitted at ABM University College and GIPS to pursue studies in BA (Honours) in Tourism Management. Kgatleng civic leaders were informed this week that the students will start their studies next month.

The total number of beneficiaries mobilised and assessed for various Poverty Eradication packages in the district has reached 237 of which 185 were registered for alternative packages and 52 for agricultural and wildlife packages.

The council has delivered services to 4,507 registered clients. Of these 1,273 are destitute, 879 are needy students, 1,470 are orphans, 800 are cost sharing, 20 are in community home based care and 165 are children in need of care. The children are assisted through the provision of social safety nets and other basic needs. The Ministry of Education has introduced sponsorship for tertiary education for students under the social welfare programmes such as orphans and needy students with a minimum of 29 points.
