Speculation on former deputy Attorney General, Abraham Keetshabe being the next Attorney General (AG) is finally laid to rest, as he was recently appointed to the position.

The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) principal public relations officer, Karabo Marumo issued a press released on Tuesday announcing the appointment of the new AG and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The press release reads, “On the 25th July 2017, the Permanent Secretary to the President and Secretary to cabinet, Carter Morupisi announced the appointment of Advocate Abraham M. Keetshabe and Stephen B. Tiroyakgosi to the positions of AG and DPP respectively in the AGC with effect from 1st August 2017.

“Prior to the said appointment, advocate Keetshabe served as the Director of Public Prosecutions since March 2016 with a career spanning over three decades in the legal fraternity.  He was first appointed to the magistracy in 1986 as a junior magistrate and rose through the ranks to become the first Motswana to be appointed a Chief Magistrate.
