Intruder vanishes after raping eight-year-old

FRANCISTOWN: Police are investigating a case in which a stranger raped an eight-year-old girl at New Stance location in Kazungula on New Year’s day, the area’s station commander, superintendent Vusimusi Jorowe, said.

Jorowe said the culprit entered the house that the little girl and her siblings slept in and molested her. The incident was reported to the police by the child’s parents early hours of January 1, 2014.

“They said an unknown man entered the house the children slept in through the window and raped the little girl.  When others screamed for help, he ran away. Up to this day we have not arrested anyone as it occurred at night and the house was dark. Our investigations are ongoing though,” said Jorowe.  He said the girl was taken to the Kasane primary hospital for treatment and later sent for counselling.
