GANTSI: Police in Gantsi have arrested a 64 year old man, in connection with an accident, that left nine people injured and damaged two parked cars. The man had reportedly spent some time at the bar having alcoholic drinks, but when it was time to leave, he got into his car, and drove in the direction of where some people were seated enjoying their drinks.

Gantsi Police Station Commander, Modiro Lekone, said the incident resulted in three people being seriously injured, while the other six were treated and discharged on the same day. The three are currently hospitalised at Gantsi Primary Hospital.

“We received reports that the suspect had been drinking at the same bar with the victims. Apparently he left and got into his car, witnesses were surprised to see him a few minutes later driving towards the victims who were seated by the bar,” he said.

The station Commander said they tested the suspect and found that he was intoxicated. “We have apprehended him and he is waiting to go to court after the holidays,” he said.


The victims are three females and six males and the damage to the cars is reportedly minor.
