Healthcare entrepreneurs thumps up national budget

Tertiary education institution, Boitekanelo College on Thursday held its annual national Budget Speech review at the College campus in Tlokweng and following the delivery of the 2023-2024 national Budget Speech by the Minister of Finance, Peggy Serame on February 9.

Boitakanelo College, a major player in the health care services education, held the seminar with the main focus on the budget allocated to the health care services for this financial year. The seminar was attended by captains of both the health and finance industry and it unpacked the budget for the students and staff of Boitekanelo College to find opportunities for the next financial year. The Ministry of Health has received the second largest share of the budget that amounts to 17.1% of proposed ministerial recurrent budget. This amounts P10.3billion and it is a growth of three percent over the current years approved budget.

Speaking at the seminar, public health specialist, Dr Lebapotswe Tlale was of the view that the budget presented to the Ministry of Health provides a cohesive and all-inclusive and sustainable preventative, curative, and rehabilitative quality health care services in Botswana. He said the proposed budget for the Ministry of Health would allow the ministry to provide good and quality service to the citizens. “The newly established Botswana Public Health Institute is also covered in that it provides human capital that this college play a critical role in developing the talent for our county. I can confidently say that Boitekanelo is sufficient to change lives through quality health, education and training in line the Botswana’s Reset Agenda,” Dr Tlale said. Boitekanelo College founder and managing director, Dr Tiroyaone Mampane said the budget proposal is echoing for a change of mindset and an uplifting of skills set in search of new opportunities in the coming year.
