Gaborone shuns Khama's pet project

Ipelegeng, one of President Ian Khama's pet projects is struggling to attract workers in Gaborone because people are not interested in it.

A report by Gaborone City Council (GCC) deputy town clerk, Leboile Israel, revealed that the programme is failing to reach its targets.

Speaking at a full meeting yesterday, Israel revealed that under the programme Gaborone needs about 3,149 workers but so far it has attracted only 1,272. Gaborone Central needs 631 workers but only 231 have signed up, while Gaborone South has 290 from a target of 631. Gaborone North has 302 workers and not the targeted 622. Gaborone West South has 211 instead of 643 and Gaborone West North has 239 of targeted 641.
