Court dismisses traditional doctor's rape case

A traditional doctor and a pastor for Progressive Ministry Apostolic Faith Healing Church, Bantshuti Nkgarapi, is a free man after the rape charge against him was dismissed by the court.

When the victim who is a minor took a stand at the Extension II Magistrate's Court to testify, the minor surprised the court stating that, “Nothing happened” when asked to state her case by the state prosecutor, Nelly Seabueng. Following the minor’s statement, the case was dismissed without costs by the presiding Magistrate, Kamogelo Mmesi. The case was also dismissed because the DNA test was not performed to strengthen the matter by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The mother to the minor was not present at the court while his biological father stood in distraught at what just happened. Nkgarapi, aged 36, was accused of raping a minor (names withheld) on or about April 1, 2023 and May 8, 2023 at Gomora ward, Mokatse village.
